Anoka-Ramsey Community College softball players, Randee Hanson, freshman 3rd base, Rogers High School, and Melissa Palm, freshman pitcher, St. Cloud Cathedral High School, St. Joseph, Minn. were each named MCAC Southern Division Players of the Week April 24 – May 1. The team won all four games for the week.
Hanson is currently on the nation’s leaders in runs batted in and home runs at the Division III level. She batted .692 (913) with two homeruns, two doubles and eight RBI’s. She also had a perfect fielding percent for the week.
Palm was 2-0 (with one save) on the week in 12 innings of work. She faced 45 batters and only allowed seven hits with a 0.00 ERA. She struck out four and only walked one batter. This is the third time this season Palm has been named the MCAC Southern Division Pitcher of the Week.
“Randee and Melissa keep getting better every game, “says Anoka-Ramsey Head Coach, Dave Alto. “These two freshmen have been instrumental in our team success this season. I am so happy for the both of them.”
Anoka-Ramsey Softball is currently 20-19 overall, 15-5 in conference play, and ranked #16 in the nation. In only their second season after a 17 year absence of softball at Anoka-Ramsey, the team has qualified for the MCAC State Tournament, Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7 in Cloquet, Minn.
