Lean Green Certificate

Lean Green is a methodology that has been around since the early 1940’s, yet it really just started taking hold in the United States in the early 1990’s. the increase in carbon dioxide on the earth has been happening for the last 300 years, but only in the last 3 years has a significant Green initiative started taking hold. Now, companies want to improve their process efficiencies with Lean and reduce their impact on the environment with Green.

Lean Green 101
Learn how to incorporate environmental and green considerations in to value stream mapping to analyze materials used vs. materials needed, analyze natural resource consumption, analyze sources and quantities of waste streams, and account for product life cycle impacts.

Learning to See Green
Learn how to understand and use a green calculator to determine what is green.  This class will address green opportunities in lighting, electrical, water, air quality, air emissions, solid waste, natural gas, and storm sewer use.  Learn about emerging green technologies like solar power, wind power, fuel cells, biofuels, and more.

Integrating Lean and Green
Learn how to use a kaizen event to achieve your desired state in energy audits and measuring energy use.  You will learn about work flow requirements, waste elimination, six sigma, total productive maintenance, right sized equipment, standard work, visual controls, and mistake-proofing.

Reducing Environmental Waste
This course is designed for the horticultural and manufacturing industries.  Specific examples will be provided on to reduce environmental waste in your business.

LEED Building Design
Learn about the LEED green building design.  Categories in the class will include sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
