Mary Stueve recently accepted the position of Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Stueve, an eight-year resident of Texas, recently relocated back to her home state of Minnesota.
“We are pleased to welcome Mary’s extensive and distinctive experience in higher education to our administrative team,” says Anoka-Ramsey Community College President, Dr. Patrick M. Johns. “Anoka-Ramsey’s STEM programs have excellent reputations and we are confident that Mary will continue to help the programs grow to better serve local, state and national needs in these fields.”
Prior to accepting this interim position, Stueve was assistant dean in the Lone Star College System for three years and division chairperson at Brazosport College for six years. She has also taught biology for several years both in Minnesota and in Texas.
“As I have progressed through teaching and administration, I have become very aware of the need to prepare students for four-year and advanced degree and careers in STEM areas,” says Stueve.
Stueve, originally from Fergus Falls, Minn., began her higher education at Fergus Falls Community College before transferring to the University of Minnesota Duluth to earn an undergraduate degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Molecular Biology.
“Anoka-Ramsey has so many great STEM programs, I would like to help form more partnerships to help ensure that high school, even middle-school, students, are prepared to be successful in college-level STEM programs,” says Stueve. “Too many STEM-related jobs are going overseas, when we have the talent and training to keep them in the U.S.”
